In a significant crackdown on illegal gambling activities, the Central Crime Station (CID) team, on March 16, 2024, conducted a raid at Attam Pahar behind the Industrial Estate. The operation was a part of the police department’s staunch commitment to zero tolerance against unlawful practices.
Acting on credible intelligence, the police team swiftly moved in on the gambling den, where several individuals were found engaged in illicit gambling activities. Despite attempts by some to evade capture upon noticing the approaching authorities, the police successfully apprehended all eight individuals involved.
During the raid, law enforcement officers seized a total of Rs. 20,530 in cash from the possession of the arrested individuals, along with board money amounting to Rs. 16,240. The confiscated funds serve as evidence of the illegal gambling operations being conducted at the site.
The arrested individuals have been charged under Sections 5/7 of the Andaman and Nicobar Gambling Regulation, 1951, marking a significant step towards holding perpetrators of such illegal activities accountable under the law.
