Significant Breakthrough: Police Raid Uncovers Illicit Liquor Production Operation in Jungle near Parangara Village

In a swift and decisive operation conducted on 21/03/2024, the Kalighat Police successfully dismantled a major illicit liquor production operation hidden within the jungle near Parangara Village.

Responding promptly to a tip-off, Sub-Inspector Ashok Kumar Baghel, Officer-in-Charge of PS Kalighat, assembled a specialised team comprising Assistant Sub-Inspector Mukesh Charan, in-charge of OP Kishorinagar, and Police Constables Jaspal Singh, Ripon Mistry, and Subrato Biswas. The proactive team managed to seize a substantial quantity of 500 litres of illicit liquor, known as “Lehan,” concealed in various containers along with timber materials utilised in the production process. These materials were clandestinely stashed deep within the jungle.

Following the confiscation, all seized items were swiftly destroyed, dealing a significant blow to the illicit liquor manufacturing network operating in the area. The team’s swift and efficient action has earned praise, and they are slated for appropriate recognition and rewards.

The entire operation was conducted under the vigilant oversight of Mr. Brij Mohan Meena, DANIPS, SDPO Diglipur, and the overall direction and supervision of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police, N&M Andaman District.
