On March 30, 2024, the team of RO Office (ANIPC) organized a Rangoli Competition at Marina Park Road to bolster public awareness for the upcoming General Election to Lok Sabha-2024. The event, themed ‘Chunav Ka Parv Desh Ka Garv’ (The Festival of Elections, Pride of the Nation), was graced by the presence of Mr. B.S. Jaglan, IAS, the Chief Electoral Officer of A&N Islands.
Accompanied by Mr. Wairokpam Punshiba Singh, IAS, the Nodal Officer for Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP), along with Mr. Suvigya, IAS, and the SVEEP team, the gathering witnessed enthusiastic participation from both contestants and the general public.
In his address to the attendees, Mr. Jaglan commended the creativity showcased by the Rangoli artists, emphasizing how their vibrant designs encapsulated the spirit of the forthcoming General Election-2024. He particularly lauded the active involvement of women teams and urged citizens to exercise their voting rights diligently on April 19, 2024. Mr. Jaglan also highlighted the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) website and helpline number, emphasizing their role in providing crucial election-related information.
The competition saw 24 teams showcasing their artistic prowess, drawing admiration from onlookers. Mr. Jaglan personally interacted with participants, further encouraging their engagement. The winners were felicitated with trophies and certificates, with Team No. 21 from Police Line clinching the first prize, followed by Team No. 19 from Middle Point securing the second prize, and Team No. 11 from Dairy Farm securing the third position.
Earlier, Mr. Wairokpam Punshiba Singh, IAS, extended a warm welcome to the attendees, underlining the competition’s objective of fostering awareness about the General Election.
The Rangoli Competition served as a vibrant platform, not only celebrating artistic talent but also effectively disseminating the significance of democratic participation among the citizens of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
