CEO of Andaman & Nicobar Islands Inspects Ongoing Commissioning of EVMs & VVPATs Ahead of April 19 Polling

Chief Electoral Officer, Mr. B S Jaglan, IAS, accompanied by Mr. Arjun Sharma, IAS, DC/RO, ANIPC, undertook a visit on April 5th, 2024, to the EVM & VVPATs warehouse located near ITF Ground to oversee the ongoing commissioning process of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trails (VVPATs) to be utilized for polling on April 19th, 2024.

The commissioning activities of these machines are currently underway at the Central Warehouse behind the ITF ground. Mr. Jaglan commended the Regional Officer (RO) of ANIPC, the Nodal Officer for EVMs & VVPATs, and their teams for their diligent arrangements at the warehouse in compliance with the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) directives.

The commissioning procedure of EVMs & VVPATs is being conducted in the presence of representatives of contesting candidates, and the entire process is being meticulously recorded through videography. To ensure a seamless commissioning process, the Election Commission of India has deployed Engineers from ECIL.

With the April 19th polling day approaching, such inspections and preparations play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth conduct of elections, maintaining transparency, and upholding the integrity of the electoral process in Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

The visit by the CEO underscores the commitment of electoral authorities to uphold democratic principles and ensure a fair and transparent electoral process in the region.
