In a significant breakthrough, the relentless efforts of PS Pahargaon bore fruit as they successfully apprehended Soubhagya Ranjan Swain, aged 44, hailing from Narshingpur, Kendrapara, Odisha, who had been evading the law for an extended period. The arrest was made pursuant to a Non-Bailable Warrant issued in connection with a 2010 case registered at PS Pahargaon under sections 420/417/376 of the IPC.

Swain, who had managed to elude authorities since 2016, had relocated to Odisha following his retirement from the Territorial Army and had been disregarding court notices. Responding to this evasion, a dedicated team from the A&N Police, led by SI Jeetender Lall and HC Sanjeev Kumar, embarked on a rigorous ten-day search operation across Odisha, collaborating closely with local law enforcement agencies. Intelligence later hinted at Swain’s possible presence in West Bengal.

Swiftly adjusting their focus, the team redirected their efforts to West Bengal. Employing sophisticated technical surveillance methods and leveraging local intelligence networks, Swain was successfully traced and apprehended from Howrah, West Bengal, on April 12, 2024.

Subsequently, Swain was escorted to Port Blair under transit remand and presented before the Hon’ble Court, marking the culmination of an exhaustive pursuit by the PS Pahargaon.

This operation was executed under the guidance of Ms. Anushtha Kalia, IPS(P), SHO PS Pahargaon, and supervised by Mr. Vikas Swami, IPS, SDPO, South Andaman, with overall supervision by Ms. Niharika Bhatt, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District.
