Accused in PS Kadamtala POCSO Act Case Sentenced to 10 Years of Rigorous Imprisonment

In a significant development on April 15, 2024, Mr. Subhajit Basu, Hon’ble Special Judge under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, North and Middle Andaman District, Mayabunder, pronounced a landmark judgment in the PS Kadamtala case, FIR No. 16/2023 dated May 22, 2024, under Section 6 of the POCSO Act, 2012. The accused, Rupesh Beck, has been sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment.

The verdict handed down by the court reflects the gravity of the offence and serves as a stern warning against such reprehensible acts. It unequivocally conveys to society that perpetrators of crimes against children will face accountability and endure severe repercussions for their actions.

The diligent efforts of the investigating officer, Sub Inspector Silipi Singha, under the guidance of SI Abdul Rehman, the then SHO of PS Kadamtala, and overall supervision by Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS SP(D)N&MA, played a pivotal role in the successful prosecution of the case. Their exemplary investigative skills and unwavering commitment to collecting evidence showcased a commendable level of professionalism in discharging their duties. Their dedication not only ensured the conviction of the accused but also underscored the law enforcement agencies’ determination to uphold the rule of law and safeguard the rights of vulnerable individuals in the North and Middle Andaman District.
