In a decisive blow against the illegal drug trade in the N&M Andaman District, the Rangat Police Station demonstrated their resolve by cracking down on drug peddlers once again.
Acting on credible intelligence, a team led by Sub-Inspector Madhab Halder, the Station House Officer of PS Rangat, conducted a raid in the Dashratpur area. The raiding team, comprising Sub-Inspector Abdul Sajeed, Head Constable Rushkeswar Rao, and Police Constables Sumitra Halder, Yaswant Rao, Pranab Halder, and K. Sameer, accompanied by two independent witnesses, was under the supervision of Mr. Rahul L. Nair, IPS, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Rangat.
The operation unfolded near the residence of a suspected individual in Dashratpur. The team covertly positioned themselves and swiftly intercepted the suspect as he approached, carrying a bag. A search ensued, leading to the discovery of 860 grams of illicit ganja in the possession of Jagannath Sil, aged 35, and son of Late Aditya Sil, residing in Dashratpur. Following thorough interrogation, Jagannath Sil admitted to the offence. Consequently, a notice under Section 41(A) of the Criminal Procedure Code (Cr.PC) was served to the accused, and a case was registered at PS Rangat under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The operation was conducted under the close supervision of Mr. Rahul L. Nair, IPS, SDPO Rangat, and the overall direction and supervision of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, the Superintendent of Police for the North & Middle Andaman District.
