International Nurses Day Celebrated Befittingly at Port Blair

In a celebration that underscored the invaluable contributions of nurses, International Nurses Day was marked with enthusiasm on May 12th, 2024, at Lecture Hall-II of ANIIMS. The event, graced by the entire nursing fraternity of GB Pant Hospital alongside the School of Nursing and ANM Training School, resonated with the theme “Our Nurses, Our Future: The Economic Power of Care”.

Dr. Suja Anthony, Director of Health Services, presided over the occasion as the chief guest. Accompanying her were Dr. Arpita Saha, Additional MS of GBPH, and Dr. Shiny Varghese, Principal of the School of Nursing, who were honoured guests.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Suja Anthony commended the tireless efforts of the nursing fraternity and urged them to continually update their knowledge, emphasising the importance of preventive healthcare measures.

The celebration was further enriched by a vibrant cultural program presented by Nursing Officers, GNM, and ANM students, showcasing their diverse talents and spirit of unity.

Ms. Johena Riaz, Matron of GB Pant Hospital, extended a warm welcome to all attendees, extending heartfelt wishes on the occasion of Nurses Day. Ms. Mimmi Singha Roy, Principal Nursing Officer of ANM Training School, delved into the theme, elucidating its significance.

Acknowledging excellence, prizes were awarded to the winners of various competitions held from May 6th to May 9th, 2024, including poster competitions, elocution, sports events, and quizzes.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Zeenath, Nursing Officer of G.B. Pant Hospital, expressing gratitude to all participants for their contributions to the memorable celebration of International Nurses Day.
