In a bid to enhance healthcare accessibility in rural areas, the Chairman of the District Health Society (DHS) in North & Middle Andaman has initiated a significant step by providing Tablets to all Community Health Officers (CHOs) in the district. The objective is to kickstart Tele-consultation services through the e-Sanjeevani app, targeting primarily senior citizens, pregnant women, and children.

The move aims to leverage technology to improve healthcare access, with CHOs playing a pivotal role in the process. Through the e-Sanjeevani app, these officers will connect patients to specialist doctors at GB Pant Hospital, Port Blair, facilitating healthcare advice and consultations for individuals residing in remote areas. The initiative underscores a commitment to bolster healthcare delivery, ensuring that even the most distant locales have access to medical expertise.

Chairman of District Health Society, North & Middle Andaman, emphasised the importance of regular field visits by CHOs and providing specialised care and assistance to elderly patients and pregnant women through tele-consultation services. This directive aims to address the challenges faced by those who are unable to visit Sub-Centres regularly due to various constraints.

The introduction of digital healthcare services is laudable, as it effectively bridges geographical gaps, bringing quality healthcare closer to those who need it most in the district. This initiative marks a significant stride towards democratising healthcare access and ensuring the well-being of all residents, particularly in remote and underserved areas.
