PS C&EO Apprehends Suspect Evading Arrest in NDPS Case Involving Methamphetamine

In a significant breakthrough, the Crime & Economic Offence Police Station had registered FIR No. 62/2024 on 27th April 2024, under sections 22(b), 22(c), 27(A), and 29 of the NDPS Act 1985. This case marks a pivotal moment in the fight against narcotics trafficking in the region.

During the initial stages of the investigation, authorities arrested eight individuals, including four from Hut Bay, Little Andaman. This operation led to the seizure of 508.36 grams of Methamphetamine, a dangerous psychotropic substance known for its severe health and societal impacts.

In a subsequent development, the investigation uncovered the involvement of Dibakar Mondal, son of Mr. Chandra Sekhar Mondal. Dibakar, 22, a resident of Ramkrishnapur, Little Andaman. Dibakar Mondal had been evading authorities since the registration of the FIR. He was apprehended on July 15, 2024. Dibakar stands accused of financing the purchase of Methamphetamine, thus playing a crucial role in the illicit drug trade network. Further investigation is ongoing.

The entire operation was conducted under the command of Mr. Lakshya Pandey, DANIPS, Dy.SP (CID) and overall supervision of Mr. Rajeev Ranjan, IPS, SP (CID).
