Andaman Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC) President, Mr. Rangalal Halder, has raised a critical safety concern affecting the tribal community of Harminder Bay, Hutbay. In a letter to the Chief Secretary of the A & N Administration, Mr. Halder highlighted the significant landslides near the tsunami shelter, posing a severe threat to both the shelter and nearby residents.

Mr. Halder emphasized the urgent need for constructing retaining walls at these vulnerable sites. He noted that the retaining walls would not only strengthen the area but also provide essential support to the tsunami shelter during natural disasters.

“The construction of retaining walls is crucial to safeguard the shelter and the surrounding community,” stated Mr. Halder.

Mr. Halder urged the Administration to prioritize this issue to prevent potential tragedies. He called for a detailed assessment of the landslide-prone areas and the development of a comprehensive plan for constructing retaining walls to ensure the safety and security of the communities.
