In a recent development, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Hon’ble Member of Parliament from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, has taken a significant step towards addressing a long-standing infrastructural demand. Mr. Ray met with Mr. Nitin Gadkari, Hon’ble Minister for Road Transport and Highways, to request the sanctioning of the long-pending bridge project between Chatham and Bambooflat.
During the meeting, Mr. Ray emphasized the high expectations of the Islanders from the NDA government regarding this crucial project. In response, Mr. Gadkari advised that a recommendation from the Defense Ministry was necessary to move forward with the sanctioning process.
Taking swift action, Mr. Ray met with Mr. Rajnath Singh, Hon’ble Minister of Defence, and submitted a letter requesting his recommendation for the bridge project. Mr. Singh assured Mr. Ray that he would positively review the proposal and send his recommendation to the Ministry of National Highways and Road Transport soon.
This proactive approach by Mr. Ray has rekindled hope among the Islanders for the long-awaited bridge, which is expected to significantly improve connectivity and infrastructure in the region.
