Andaman Association of Tour Operators (AATO) has launched a comprehensive capacity-building course for tourism stakeholders, in partnership with the Vidya Yuva Kendra Foundation and the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. The four-day programme, running from August 10 to 13, 2024, in Port Blair, is designed to enhance the skills and expertise of local tourism professionals.
The course was inaugurated by Mr. M. Vinod, President of AATO, who emphasised the critical need for ongoing training and development within the tourism sector. “The tourism industry is the backbone of our local economy, and it is essential that our stakeholders are equipped with the latest knowledge and best practices to provide exceptional experiences to our visitors. This training programme is a significant step towards achieving that goal,” Mr. M. Vinod remarked during the inauguration.
The event was also attended by prominent AATO members, including Mr. Navedh, Vice President; Mr. Saikat Biswas, Joint Secretary; Mr. Selvaraj, Treasurer; and Mr. Krishna, Senior Executive Committee Member. They reiterated the association’s commitment to fostering professional growth and development among its members.
Over 40 tourism stakeholders from various parts of the Andaman Islands are participating in this training programme. The course features interactive sessions and workshops focused on sustainable tourism practices, customer service excellence, and effective management strategies.
AATO remains committed to advancing the tourism sector in the Andaman Islands, with this training programme being one of several initiatives aimed at empowering local stakeholders and promoting sustainable tourism practices in the region.
