In a move to curb the growing menace of drug abuse, the Directorate of Social Welfare, A&N Administration, conducted a pledge-taking ceremony on 13th August 2024, under the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR). The event, held at the Directorate’s premises in Goalghar, is part of a broader national initiative spearheaded by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment (DoSJE), the nodal agency for drug demand reduction in India.

During the ceremony, Mr. Kumar L, Secretary of Social Welfare, administered the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’ pledge to the staff. The pledge, rooted in the theme “Viksit Bharat ka Mantra, Bharat ho Nashe se Swatantra,” aligns with the nationwide campaign aimed at making India drug-free.

The ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’ campaign is a comprehensive effort involving a wide range of activities across the country. Youth, children, educational institutions, women, and the community have been actively participating in these initiatives to raise awareness about substance abuse. The campaign has reached over 80 million people, educating them on the dangers of drug use.

As part of this extensive campaign, a nationwide pledge against drugs was taken today in schools, colleges, and public institutions across the country. The unified effort reflects a growing commitment to eradicating the scourge of drug abuse and building a healthier, drug-free India.
