In a remarkable display of swift investigative work, the Pahargaon Police Station successfully solved a blind attempt to murder case within hours, underscoring their commitment to maintaining law and order in the region.
The incident occurred late on the night of August 14, 2024, near Unique Hotel and Bar in Dollygunj, where a heated altercation escalated into a brutal assault on Mr. Ashish Sadhukhan. The victim who was found unconscious at his home and was immediately rushed to GB Pant Hospital. In critical condition, he was placed on a ventilator.
With no initial leads, the Pahargaon Police registered a criminal case against an unknown assailant, and the investigation was quickly assigned to Sub-Inspector Sudhir Kumar. Under the leadership of Inspector Mohd Elias, Station House Officer of Pahargaon Police Station, the investigation team worked tirelessly, reviewing CCTV footage and conducting interviews with residents in the vicinity.
Their meticulous efforts paid off when they identified a suspect, Suprobhat Das, also known as Joy, who has a known criminal history. Das had fled the area but was tracked down and taken into custody. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime, revealing that a dispute with the victim had escalated, leading to the severe assault.
The swift resolution of this case was the result of the dedicated efforts of the police team, including Head Constables Ravi Limbu, Sunil Yadav, Ajay Kr. Anand, and Constables L. Horo, Ashish Kr. Singh, Santosh Lal, and Nokraju. The operation was conducted under the direct guidance of Inspector Mohd Elias and was supervised by Mr. Vikas Swami, IPS, SDPO South Andaman, with overall supervision by Ms. Niharika Bhatt, IPS, SP(D) South Andaman.
