Police Uncovers Illegal Drug Operation in R K Gram at Diglipur

In a swift and decisive operation, the Diglipur Police Station (PS Diglipur) successfully uncovered an illegal drug operation in the R K Gram area. The raid, based on credible information, was conducted under the direction of Mr. Ankesh Yadav, DANIPS SDPO Diglipur.

A dedicated team was quickly assembled, led by Inspector Vijay Kumar, SHO PS Diglipur. The team included Sub-Inspector Abdul Shakil, Head Constables V M Prasad and Bobby Jacob, Constables Neeraj Singh, Salman Gafoor, Bijoy Sarkar, Sushen Das, Anupama Sarkar, Anjana Paul, and Soma Dey, along with Ct Pawan. Two independent witnesses also accompanied the team during the operation.

Upon reaching the suspected location, the team conducted a thorough search of a shop owned by Nirod Biswas, 43, a resident of R K Gram. The search led to the discovery of 85 grams of illicit ganja, concealed among other items in the shop.

During interrogation, the accused, Nirod Biswas, confessed to his involvement in the illegal sale of ganja. He was subsequently served with a notice under Section 35(3) of the BNSS, 2023, and a case has been registered at PS Diglipur under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act for further investigation.

The entire operation was conducted under the close supervision of Mr. Ankesh Yadav, DANIPS SDPO Diglipur, and Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police, North & Middle Andaman District.

The identity of informants will be kept confidential, and they will be suitably rewarded for their assistance.
