Individual Arrested for Smuggling 1.010 Kg of Ganja into Diglipur via India Post

In a swift and effective operation, the Diglipur Police successfully intercepted an illegal drug transaction, seizing over a kilogram of illicit ganja. The operation was carried out under the leadership of Mr. Ankesh Yadav, DANIPS SDPO Diglipur, following a tip-off regarding a drug delivery at the Subashgram Post Office in Diglipur.

Acting on reliable intelligence, a specialised team led by Inspector Vijay Kumar, SHO of PS Diglipur, was promptly assembled. The team included constables Neeraj Singh, Bijoy Sarkar, Susen Das, and R.C. Rathore, along with two independent witnesses, who all moved swiftly to apprehend the suspect. 

The team discreetly positioned themselves near the post office, waiting for the suspect to arrive. Shortly after, the individual was seen approaching the location. As soon as the suspect collected the parcel, the police team intercepted him and conducted a search. This led to the discovery of 1.010 kilograms of ganja in the possession of the suspect, identified as Uttam Kumar Biswas, 40, a resident of Durgapur, Ward No. 04, Diglipur. 

During interrogation, the accused confessed to his involvement in the crime. He was subsequently arrested, and a case was registered against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of Mr. Ankesh Yadav, DANIPS SDPO Diglipur, and the overall direction of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police, North & Middle Andaman District.

They assured that the identity of informers will be kept confidential and that they will be suitably rewarded for their cooperation.
