In compliance with the Election Commission of India’s directives, the pre-revision activity for the Annual Summary Revision of the electoral roll for 2025 has officially commenced on August 20, 2024, across South Andaman. This critical exercise is aimed at ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the voter list, making sure that all eligible citizens are accounted.

To initiate the process, the Deputy Commissioner of South Andaman (SA), who also serves as the District Election Officer (DEO), convened a meeting with representatives from various political parties. During the meeting, the DC (SA) briefed them about the ongoing pre-revision activities and the subsequent stages of the SSR-2025. The purpose of the meeting was to encourage inclusivity and cooperation from all political stakeholders in this essential democratic process.

Speaking on the importance of the pre-revision activities, the DC (SA)/DEO (SA) stressed the need for thorough house-to-house verification of the current voter list. This task is being carried out by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) across the district, who are responsible for gathering crucial information, such as:

– Unenrolled eligible citizens (as of October 1, 2024)

– Prospective electors (eligible as of January 1, 2025)

– Future electors for upcoming qualifying dates (April 1, July 1, and October 1, 2025)

– Identifying multiple entries, deceased voters, and those who have permanently relocated

– Making necessary corrections to existing entries in the voter list

The Integrated Draft Electoral Roll is scheduled to be published on October 29, 2024. The Deputy Commissioner has urged the public to review the draft and submit any claims or objections between October 29 and November 28, 2024. The final electoral roll is expected to be published on January 6, 2025.

In his appeal to the public, the DC (SA)/DEO (SA) emphasized the importance of public cooperation with BLOs during this pre-revision phase. Residents are encouraged to verify their details, ensure the accuracy of their voter records, and make any necessary corrections promptly. Furthermore, voters are being advised to update their mobile numbers and link their Aadhaar information through their respective BLOs to streamline the process.
