In a road accident on 20th October 2024, on Marina Park Road, a red Maruti Alto car lost control and crashed into a roadside drainage. The accident took place at approximately 2:30 p.m., as the vehicle was speeding towards the Girls’ School from Marina Park.
Eyewitnesses reported that the car, driven by a resident of Round Basti, suddenly lost balance before veering off the road and colliding with the wall. The vehicle got stuck in the drainage at the stadium’s edge. The driver, identified as a 25-year-old, was gravely injured in the incident. His 21-year-old younger brother, who was in the passenger seat, suffered minor injuries.
Passersby quickly responded to the scene, helping extricate both individuals from the vehicle. Both brothers were rushed to G.B. Pant Hospital for treatment. The driver was admitted to the Medical ICU due to severe head injuries, while his brother received treatment for his minor injuries.
Preliminary reports suggest that speeding and reckless driving were likely factors contributing to the accident. Further investigations are ongoing by local authorities.
