Gold Ornaments Worth Rs. 2.5 Lakhs Recovered within 24 Hours in Diglipur Burglary Case

A burglary case involving gold ornaments valued at Rs. 2.5 lakhs was swiftly resolved by the Diglipur Police, leading to the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of the stolen property within 24 hours. The incident underscores the prompt and efficient action taken by law enforcement in safeguarding the community.

On 21st October 2024, a burglary was reported at the Diglipur Police Station by a local resident, Mrs. Dipika Mistry, wife of Mr. Mithun Kar, residing near VKZPV School in RK Gram. According to the complaint, gold ornaments valued at approximately Rs. 2.5 lakhs were stolen from her home. The police registered a case under the relevant sections of BNS 2023.

A special team led by Inspector Vijay Kumar, SHO of PS Diglipur, was immediately formed. The team included Head Constable Sanjit Madhu and police constables Bijoy Sarkar, Susen Das, Yasir Arafath, Suresh, and Soma Dey. Acting swiftly, the officers activated their network of informers and carefully reviewed CCTV footage from the area.

Their efforts soon paid off with the identification and arrest of two suspects: Pranab Das, aged 22, son of Mr. Nirmal Das, and Dipankar Das, aged 23, son of Mr. Ananda Das, both residents of Diglipur. During interrogation, both suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime. The stolen gold ornaments were recovered, and following proper procedures, the suspects were formally arrested.

The successful operation was carried out under the guidance of Mr. Chandra Prakash Meena, SDPO Diglipur, and the overall supervision of Superintendent of Police Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, North and Middle Andaman District.
