Pahargaon Police Arrests Five in Major Drug Seizure, Recovers 1.925 Kilogram Ganja

In a significant operation in the fight against drug trafficking, Pahargaon Police have arrested five individuals and seized 1.925 kilograms of illicit ganja, booking all accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.

On 28th October 2024, acting on reliable information, officers from Pahargaon Police Station intercepted an illegal ganja transaction near Jodakilan. The operation, led by Inspector Mohd. Elias, Station House Officer (SHO) of Pahargaon, resulted in the arrest of three accused individuals: T. Raja Shekhar, Saharul Gazi, and Rana Karmakar. During the raid, officers seized 1,775 grams of ganja. A case was registered under the NDPS Act, and the investigation was handed over to Sub-Inspector P. Jeevan.

Further investigations and questioning of the initial suspects led to the arrest of two more individuals, S. Raman and Vinith Kumar Murgeshan, with an additional 150 grams of ganja seized. Further investigation in the case is ongoing. 

The raiding team comprised of SI Manish Narayan, Head Constable Ravi Kumar Limbu, and Police Constables Shiv Kumar, Rahul Kr. Mourya, Saheeda Banu, Lendha Horo and SI P Jeevan (the IO of the case), all operating under the guidance of SHO Elias. The operation received supervisory oversight from Miss Anushtha Kalia, IPS, SDPO (SA), and Miss Shweta K Sugathan, IPS, SP(D) of South Andaman.

Accused Details:

1. Saharul Gazi (21) – Private labourer, Bhatu Basti

2. T. Raja Shekhar (43) – Resident of Lillypur, Haddo

3. Rana Karmakar (41) – Resident near Kali Mandir, Jodakilan

4. S. Raman (31) – Resident of Prothrapur

5. Vinith Kumar Murgeshan (26) – Resident of New Pahargaon
