In observance of Police Commemoration Day, Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, and Police Flag Day 2024, the Nicobar District Police organized a series of events from October 21, across its stations to honour police personnel, promote community engagement, and spread awareness on critical issues.
As part of these observances, Nicobar District Police held volleyball matches at PS Car Nicobar, PS Katchal, and PS Teressa, fostering teamwork and camaraderie among police personnel and community members. Additionally, a yoga session at PS Katchal promoted physical and mental well-being, drawing participation from both officers and locals.
In alignment with environmental initiatives, the police stations of PS Car Nicobar, PS Campbell Bay, and PS Katchal conducted a plantation drive, planting fruit-bearing saplings on station premises. This effort supported both environmental sustainability and community greening.
A series of awareness programs also took place, focusing on the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) and the hazards of drug abuse. Special sessions were organized in schools, addressing topics like “Good Touch and Bad Touch” to educate students on personal safety.
Furthermore, the police welcomed students to visit police stations for an inside look into police work and responsibilities. Students from GSSS Lapathy visited PS Car Nicobar, while GMSS Kamorta students received a briefing by PS Nancowry staff. Students visiting PS Teressa were introduced to police operations, weapon handling, emergency radio communication, and firefighting procedures. Similarly, GSSS Campbell Bay students explored PS Campbell Bay’s display of weapons, gaining insight into police tools and techniques.
Through these various initiatives, the Nicobar District Police reaffirmed their dedication to community service, public safety, and national unity, embodying the spirit of Police Commemoration Day, Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, and Police Flag Day.
