A&N Police Sub-Inspector G Suresh Kumar Honoured with ‘Kedriya Grihmantri Dakshata Padak’ for Exemplary Investigation

In a moment of pride for the Andaman and Nicobar Police, Sub-Inspector G. Suresh Kumar has been awarded the prestigious ‘Kedriya Grihmantri Dakshata Padak-2024’ in recognition of his exceptional investigation. This distinguished honour, conferred by the Ministry of Home Affairs, was announced on the eve of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary on October 31, 2024.

Sub-Inspector G. Suresh Kumar, who joined the Andaman and Nicobar Police on January 20, 1994, has demonstrated unwavering integrity and professionalism throughout his career. Known for his dedication to duty, he played a key role in solving a complex murder case during his tenure as Station House Officer (SHO) at PS Kalighat. The case, registered as FIR No. 33/21 under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code on November 10, 2021, involved a brutal murder that shocked the community.

Thanks to Kumar’s thorough and diligent investigative efforts, the case was resolved swiftly, with a chargesheet submitted within just 42 days. His work led to a significant outcome: on July 5, 2023, the court convicted the accused, sentencing them to life imprisonment and imposing a fine of ₹20,000. In the event of non-payment, the court ordered an additional two months of rigorous imprisonment for the convicted individual.

Director General of Police H.G.S. Dhaliwal, IPS, along with officers across all ranks in the Andaman and Nicobar Police, extended their heartfelt congratulations to Sub-Inspector Kumar. They lauded his achievement, recognising it as a remarkable milestone that brings honour to the A&N Police force. The department wished him continued success and fulfilment in his future endeavours.
