Two Arrested in Car Nicobar for Illicit Liquor Manufacturing

In a significant crackdown on illegal liquor production, the beat police team from the Car Nicobar Police Station, led by Sub-Inspector J.R. Krishna, conducted two excise raids in Malacca Village on November 6, 2024. The operation resulted in the destruction of 920 litres of Lehan, a fermented wash used in the illicit production of liquor, which was recovered and disposed off on-site under video and photographic documentation.

During the raids, authorities also seized 4 litres of illicit liquor. Two individuals, Emmanuel, 46, son of the late Mr. Fred, and Samson, 33, son of Mr. Solomon, both residents of Malacca Village, were arrested in connection with the illicit liquor production operations. Two excise cases have been registered at the Car Nicobar Police Station, and investigations are ongoing.

The Nicobar District Police have reiterated their commitment to tackling illegal liquor activities in the region. They are encouraging the community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity related to illicit liquor production or sales.
