Sanitary Pad Distribution Programme Held by A & N Pradesh Mahila Congress to Honour Indira Gandhi’s Legacy

Andaman and Nicobar Pradesh Mahila Congress organized a Sanitary Pad Distribution Programme at Chouldari village on 20th November 2024,  to mark the 107th birth anniversary of India’s first woman Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi. The initiative, held under the leadership of Ms. Alka Lamba, National President of All India Mahila Congress, celebrated Indira Gandhi’s contributions to women’s empowerment and well-being.

The event, coordinated by Ms. V.K. Mariyam Bibi, Coordinator of A&N Pradesh Mahila Congress, aimed to promote menstrual hygiene and raise awareness about women’s health, particularly in rural areas.

Addressing the gathering, Ms. Mariyam Bibi emphasized Indira Gandhi’s transformative role in advocating for women’s welfare. She highlighted Gandhi’s visionary efforts to improve health and hygiene standards for women across India, describing her as a trailblazer for inclusivity and equality.

During the programme, sanitary pads were distributed free of charge, reflecting the Mahila Congress’s commitment to combating menstrual health stigmas and ensuring access to essential hygiene products for underserved women.

Senior leaders of the Mahila Congress actively participated in the initiative, reaffirming their dedication to the values championed by Indira Gandhi. The event witnessed enthusiastic support from the local community, underscoring growing awareness of the importance of menstrual health and women’s empowerment.
