DCC and DLRC Meeting Held in South Andaman to Review District Credit Plan and Government Schemes

The District Consultative Committee (DCC) and District Level Review Committee (DLRC) meeting for the September 2024 quarter was convened on 17th December 2024, chaired by Mr. Arjun Sharma, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of South Andaman. The meeting took place at the District Office’s Conference Hall and focused on reviewing the performance of banks under the District Credit Plan for 2024-25, as well as Government Sponsored and Flagship Schemes launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister.

In his address, Mr. Sharma underscored the significance of Flagship Schemes such as PM SVANidhi, PMEGP, and Stand Up India. He urged banks to meet their targets promptly and emphasized the need for increased collaboration in conducting financial literacy camps. These camps are intended to educate unemployed youth about available schemes, with coordination from Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs).

Mr. Sharma also directed the Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI) of the State Bank of India (SBI) to consider adding new sectors such as Solar Installation and Agar Cultivation to their Entrepreneur Development Program Annual Action Plan for 2025-26. He further called on all banks to boost loan disbursement under Priority Sector Lending and focus on minimising Non-Performing Assets (NPAs). The Deputy Commissioner also noted a positive trend in the Credit Deposit (CD) ratio, which rose by 1.19%, reaching 66.84%.

Mr. C Raj, Chief Manager of SBI, extended a warm welcome to the Chairman and provided an update on RSETI’s accomplishments. He highlighted that the institute had successfully achieved its target for skill training programs for the year 2024-25.

The meeting was attended by several distinguished guests, including Ms. Jyothi, Pradhan of Gram Panchayat Sippighat; Mr. Tirumalasetti Phanindra, LDO, RBI Kolkata; Mr. P K Ummer Farooq, Chief Manager, UTLBC, SBI; Mr. Ravisankar K, Chief Manager, Lead Bank, SBI; and Mr. Rahul Dhamani, DGM, NABARD. Senior officials from various banks and government departments were also present.
