In a significant operation on January 6, 2025, the Kalighat Police, led by Sub-Inspector (SI) Ashok Kumar Baghel, intercepted a 23-year-old suspect near Modi Tikery Parangara and recovered 59 grams of ganja hidden inside motorcycle seat.
The operation unfolded after SI Ashok Kumar Baghel received a tip-off about the suspect, Tarun Kumar Bepari, traveling on a motorcycle from Paschimsagar to Kalapahad carrying contraband Ganja. Following directives from Mr. Ankesh Yadav, DANIPS, SDPO Diglipur, a raiding team was formed, comprising SI Baghel, Head Constable (D) Rupesh Kumar, and Police Constables Subrata Biswas and Vijay Kumar.
The team, equipped with investigation kits and other tools, departed from Kalighat Police Station. They also enlisted two independent witnesses to accompany them during the search operation.
The team intercepted the suspect near Modi Tikery Parangara under the supervision of SDPO Mr. Ankesh Yadav. Upon searching the motorcycle, a red carry bag containing ganja wrapped in brown tape was found concealed inside the seat. The substance, confirmed to be ganja using a drug detection kit, weighed 59 grams.
The ganja and the motorcycle were seized on the spot. The suspect, Tarun Kumar Bepari, admitted to procuring the ganja with the intent to sell it. He was subsequently arrested under Section 20(b)(ii)A of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The operation concluded with the suspect and the seized contraband being brought to Kalighat Police Station for further legal action. The coordinated efforts of the police team ensured the successful interception of the contraband.
