In celebration of National Youth Day, which commemorates the birth of Swami Vivekananda, the Indian Coast Guard Station (ICGS) Mayabunder, in collaboration with the Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram and the Andaman and Nicobar Police, organized a Medical Camp and Community Engagement Program at Austin 2 village, located in the Mayabunder region.

The event, held on January 12, was officially inaugurated by Commandant SK Lawrence, the commanding officer of ICGS Mayabunder, along with key dignitaries, including Mr. Muthukumar, Vice President of the Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, Mr. Ram Kumar Singh, District Secretary of the Ashram, and Dr. Priyanka, an Ayurvedic medical officer from Dr. RP Hospital, Mayabunder.

During the program, representatives from the Andaman and Nicobar Police, including ASI Nirmala Kerketta and Head Constable Arodi Das, provided valuable information to the villagers on the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, with a particular focus on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and its legal implications.

A key feature of the event was the involvement of the Coast Guard Wives Welfare Association, “Tatrakshika,” which delivered a lecture on women’s hygiene and distributed First Aid Kits to the attendees.

The medical camp provided essential healthcare services, benefiting 89 villagers, offering free Ayurvedic and allopathic treatments to those in need. The initiative highlighted the importance of community outreach and the collective effort of various organizations in fostering health and awareness among the local population.

This collaborative event underscored the commitment of the Indian Coast Guard and its partners to support and uplift the community, especially in rural and underserved areas.
