Nicobar District Police Culminates 73rd Police Raising Week with Bada Khana

Nicobar District Police observed the 73rd Police Raising Week with enthusiasm from January 16 to 22, 2025. The week-long celebrations highlighted the crucial role of the police in ensuring community safety and fostering engagement through a variety of programs and activities.  

On January 20, 2025, essay competitions were held across multiple schools, encouraging students to think creatively and express their ideas. These events were organized by different police stations in the district, including PS Car Nicobar at GSSS Malacca, PS Nancowrie at Govt. Model Secondary School, Kamorta, PS Katchal at GSSS Kapanga, and PS Campbell Bay at GSSS Campbell Bay. The competitions saw enthusiastic participation from students, reflecting the success of this initiative.  

Awareness sessions were a significant highlight on January 21, aimed at educating the public on critical social issues.  

– PS Car Nicobar conducted a session at Kinyuka Village, focusing on the POCSO Act, the dangers of alcohol and drug abuse, and the importance of reporting suspicious items.  

– PS Nancowrie held an interactive program at Chota Enaka Community Hall, addressing 35 students on cybercrime, traffic rules, and substance abuse.  

– PS Katchal organized sessions at GSSS Kapanga for girl students, focusing on women-related issues and the POCSO Act, as well as at Japan Tikery Village, where villagers were sensitized about cybercrime and personal data protection.  

– PS Campbell Bay conducted awareness programs at GSSS Vijay Nagar and Rajiv Nagar Village, reaching 80 students and 50 villagers respectively, with discussions on cyber safety and substance abuse.  

In addition to the awareness programs, PS Campbell Bay organized a bike rally involving police, police radio, and fire service personnel, covering key areas of the town to promote safety awareness. Meanwhile, PS Katchal hosted a yoga session for Police and IRBn personnel, emphasizing the importance of physical and mental well-being.  

The observance concluded on January 22, 2025, with a *Badakhana* organized at the District Headquarters, Car Nicobar. Police personnel and their families came together to celebrate, creating a joyful and memorable atmosphere. Senior officers and staff actively participated, making the event a fitting finale to the week-long celebration.  

Through these initiatives, the Nicobar District Police reaffirmed their commitment to community engagement, raising awareness, and strengthening bonds with the public. The week stood as a testament to the police’s dedication to ensuring the safety and well-being of society.
