The 92nd Half-yearly meeting of the Town Official Language Implementation Committee (TOLIC) took place on January 28, 2025, at the Secretariat Conference Hall. The meeting was presided over by Ms. Richa, Secretary (Official Language), A&N Administration.

In her address to the committee, Ms. Richa emphasized the Government of India’s commitment to the implementation of the Official Language Policy in Central Government Offices. The Ministry of Home Affairs is particularly focused on ensuring that Hindi becomes a primary language for official work, she stated. She urged all officials in Central Government Offices to adopt Hindi as a habitual medium for performing official tasks, noting that many employees in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are already proficient in the language.

Ms. Richa further highlighted the availability of software developed by the Government of India, which has significantly simplified the process of conducting official work in Hindi. She encouraged Heads of Offices to organize workshops regularly to educate and sensitize employees about the software and its usage, fostering an environment where official tasks are increasingly handled in Hindi.

The meeting was coordinated by Mr. Rajendra Indwar, the Member-Secretary of the Town Official Language Implementation Committee.

The initiative is part of an ongoing effort to promote Hindi as the language of administration in government offices across the islands, ensuring greater ease and efficiency in official communications.
