The ICAR-KVK Nicobar, in collaboration with the District Agriculture Department, organized a special program for the live viewing of the 19th installment release of the PM-KISAN Nidhi scheme and the ‘KISAN Samman Samaroh’ at the community hall in Perka Village, Car Nicobar.
The event witnessed the participation of more than 80 farmers, who gathered to mark this significant occasion aimed at providing financial support and raising awareness about various government agricultural initiatives.
Deputy Commissioner of Nicobar, Mr. Amit Kale, IAS, graced the program as the Chief Guest and officially inaugurated the event. In his address, he highlighted the importance of the PM-KISAN scheme, describing it as more than just financial assistance. He emphasized that the initiative acknowledges the dedication and hard work of farmers while also enabling them to invest in quality inputs, modern equipment, and improved seeds—crucial elements for overcoming contemporary agricultural challenges.
Mr. Kale further underscored the need for consistent government support to ensure the sustainability and progress of the farming community. As part of the event, he also distributed essential agricultural items to the farmers.
Dr. Santosh Kumar, Senior Scientist & Head of ICAR-KVK Nicobar, extended a warm welcome to the Chief Guest and all attendees. He lauded the PM-KISAN scheme as a reflection of the government’s vision to build a self-reliant and prosperous farming sector. He reiterated that the release of the 19th installment reaffirms the government’s commitment to the welfare of farmers and the development of a resilient agricultural ecosystem.
Adding to the discourse, village representative Mr. Meshack encouraged farmers to actively engage in agricultural activities with the objective of making the island self-sufficient in vegetable and fruit production.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Assistant Director Er. C. Vinod Kumar, who acknowledged the efforts of all organisers and expressed gratitude to the farmers for their enthusiastic participation.
