The Department of Agriculture, in collaboration with the National Bee Board under the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare (MoA&FW), Government of India, is set to organise a two-day district-level training programme on Scientific Beekeeping, the Role of Bees in Agriculture, and Its Economics under the National Beekeeping & Honey Mission (NBHM) scheme.
The training will be conducted at two locations in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands:
- Panchayat Samiti Hall, Rangat: 7th & 8th March 2025
- Ferrargunj Tehsil, South Andaman: 10th & 11th March 2025
The initiative aims to equip farmers, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), and aspiring beekeepers with scientific knowledge and practical skills in beekeeping. Experts will shed light on the importance of honeybees in crop pollination, biodiversity conservation, rural livelihood development, and environmental sustainability.
On Day 1, participants will receive theoretical insights into sustainable beekeeping practices, while Day 2 will focus on hands-on training, including handling bee colonies and hive installation.
Farmers and SHG members from South Andaman, Rangat, and nearby areas are encouraged to participate and explore beekeeping as a means to enhance their economic well-being.
