Andaman Law College is set to launch a study center for Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) to facilitate law-related programs. The college, in collaboration with the IGNOU Regional Center, is currently working on the modalities to introduce this initiative. The study center aims to provide law students with opportunities to pursue additional law-related certifications, enhancing their academic credentials.
The announcement was made during a program organised at Andaman Law College in observance of International Women’s Day. The event, hosted by IGNOU Regional Center in association with Andaman Law College, featured prominent guests and insightful discussions.
Ms. Smitha R, IAS, Secretary (Power & Archives), attended as the Chief Guest and emphasised the importance of empowering women in all aspects of life. Ms. Radha Kanak Chatterjee, Chief Editor of The Daily Telegrams, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. Senior Advocate Ms. Suparna Biswas delivered the keynote address, providing a comprehensive overview of the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act and its key provisions.
The event also featured cultural performances by the students of Andaman Law College, including a skit and a solo classical dance. Prizes were awarded to winners of various competitions held as part of the celebration.
The program commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony led by distinguished dignitaries. Dr. P.V.N. Sarma, Principal of Andaman Law College, delivered the opening remarks, setting the tone for the proceedings.
Dr. Sunil Jacob, Regional Director of IGNOU Regional Center, delivered the felicitation address and congratulated students for their academic achievements under IGNOU. The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Sudarshan Raja, Assistant Regional Director of IGNOU Regional Center.
