The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Andaman and Nicobar Islands, observed the 135th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar with great reverence and enthusiasm. The commemorative event took place at Ambedkar Auditorium, near the Ambedkar statue in Sri Vijaya Puram, drawing active participation from college students across the region.
The program began with a warm welcome by Mr. Satyajit Halder, City Secretary of ABVP, who set the tone for the day’s proceedings. This was followed by an address from Mr. Tejinder Singh, City President, who underscored the significance of the occasion and Dr. Ambedkar’s lasting contributions to the nation.
Dr. Kandi Muthu, Vibhag Pramukh, recounted the inspiring life journey of Dr. Ambedkar, highlighting the challenges he overcame and the values he upheld. Dr. Santosh Kumar Jha, Vice President of Dakshin Bengal, emphasized how Dr. Ambedkar remains a timeless role model for generations, especially for youth striving for equality and justice.
Adding to the discourse, Mr. Rohit Sharma spoke passionately about the central role education played in Dr. Ambedkar’s life and how he used it as a tool for social transformation. Mr. Ayush Raj, ALC Convenor, urged students to draw inspiration from Dr. Ambedkar’s perseverance, intellect, and commitment to justice.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. M. Vinesh, City Joint Secretary, who expressed gratitude to all the speakers, participants, and attendees for making the event a success.
The celebration not only paid tribute to the architect of the Indian Constitution but also served as a powerful reminder of his enduring legacy in shaping modern India’s values of equality, education, and social justice.
