Awareness Programme on Soil Health and Distribution of Soil Health Cards Held at Tushnabad

An awareness programme on Soil Health and Distribution of Soil Health Cards under the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana was organized by the Department of Agriculture at Gram Panchayat, Tushnabad in Ferrargunj Block on April 12, 2025. The event was conducted under the guidance of Ms. Pallavi Sarkar, IAS, Secretary (Agriculture), A&N Administration.

The programme aimed to educate farmers about the nutrient status of their soil and offer recommendations on the appropriate dosage of nutrients to improve soil health and fertility.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Anand Amrit Raj, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Tushnabad, urged farmers to adopt organic practices using vermicompost, farmyard manure, and decomposed farm waste for cultivation. Mr. Navashakti, Assistant Director (Agriculture), highlighted the critical role of soil health in sustainable farming.

Dr. Sahana Begum, Agriculture Officer, Ferrargunj, sensitized farmers on the judicious use of nutrients and the timely application of essential plant nutrients in readily available forms. Mr. Santosh Kumar, In-Charge AD (AE) FM, spoke on the benefits of farm mechanisation in boosting crop production. Ms. Gayatri Singh, Agriculture Assistant, discussed Integrated Nutrient Management using organic manures and bio-fertilizers as a strategy to enhance soil fertility.

The programme concluded with the distribution of Soil Health Cards to farmers from the villages of Tushnabad, Hobdipur, Manpur, and Collipur. The cards were distributed by Mr. Anand Amrit Raj, Pradhan; Mr. Salamat Ali, Panchayat Samiti Member; Mr. Rajesh Mandal, Up-Pradhan; and Mr. Navashakti, Assistant Director (Agriculture).
