In a vibrant initiative aimed at promoting healthy eating habits and sustainable food choices, the Food Safety Department of the Andaman & Nicobar Administration is set to organize the ‘Eat Right Mela’ on April 19 and 20, 2025, at Marina Park, Sri Vijaya Puram.

Dedicated to raising awareness about the nutritional and environmental benefits of millets, the two-day event will spotlight these small-seeded grains, often hailed as “nutri-cereals.” Millets are rich in dietary fiber, low on the glycemic index, and packed with antioxidants. They are also excellent sources of essential minerals including iron, zinc, calcium, potassium, and magnesium — making them both a healthy and eco-friendly dietary choice.

A key highlight of the Mela will be a diverse range of millet-based food stalls operated by local Self Help Groups (SHGs). Visitors can sample and purchase a variety of innovative, delicious, and nutritious millet preparations — catering to both traditional tastes and modern preferences.

The Food Safety Department has extended a warm invitation to residents and tourists alike to attend the Mela, which will be open from 5 PM to 9 PM on both days. The event promises a delightful experience for food lovers and health-conscious individuals, encouraging everyone to make informed food choices for a better and healthier tomorrow.
