The Science Wing of the Directorate of Education, A&N Administration, successfully organized the State Level Water Conservation Model/Project Competition and Exhibition for the academic year 2025-26. The event was held for students of Classes VI to IX from all Government and Government-aided schools across the islands.
The competition was conducted in a hybrid format on April 19, with participants from South Andaman and Wimberlygunj Zones presenting their projects offline at Shiksha Sadan, Sri Vijaya Puram, while students from the remaining seven zones joined the event online.
The programme was inaugurated by the Director of Education, Mr. Vikram Singh, who interacted with students both online and in person. During his address, he emphasized the urgent need for water conservation and encouraged students to adopt sustainable practices, particularly focusing on rainwater harvesting and purification methods.
Judging for the competition was carried out by Mr. A. Gopal, Project Officer at CPR Environment, and Mr. Nambirajan, Assistant Engineer (Water) at SVPMC. The evaluators commended the creativity and practical approach of the students’ models aimed at conserving water and promoting environmental responsibility.
The event concluded with guidance from Mr. Ram Pravesh, Deputy Director of Education (Science), followed by a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Rajesh Kumar Pandey, Science Consultant, DDE (Science), Shiksha Sadan, Sri Vijaya Puram.
The initiative reflected the Directorate’s ongoing efforts to instill environmental consciousness and scientific curiosity among young learners across the islands.
