District-Level Training Workshop on GST Filing for Gram Panchayats Held Under RGSA at South Andaman

As part of the ongoing capacity-building initiatives under the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA), a district-level training workshop on “GST Filing in Gram Panchayats” was organized on April 24, 2025, at the SPRC Training Hall, Directorate of Rural Development, PRIs & ULBs. The workshop aimed to equip Panchayat Secretaries and Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) with critical knowledge and practical skills related to Goods and Services Tax (GST) compliance at the grassroots governance level.

The event commenced with an inaugural address by Mr. Bijoy Kumar Das, State Nodal Officer (RGSA), who underscored the importance of GST compliance in promoting transparency and financial discipline within Panchayati Raj Institutions.

Mr. Dipankar Bera, Superintendent, CGST & CX, A & N Division, led a detailed introductory session, offering a comprehensive overview of GST procedures. This was followed by a focused technical session on GST filing specific to Gram Panchayats, conducted by Mr. Amit Parashar, Inspector, CGST & CX, A & N Division.

Participants actively engaged in an interactive doubt-clearing session, where the resource persons addressed practical challenges faced by field-level officials in implementing GST norms. A post-lunch discussion and feedback session, facilitated by the PMU Team, provided valuable insights and reflections from the attendees.

The program began with participant registration and a welcome address by Ms. K.A. Prameela, Assistant Director (RD/Panch). The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Thiru Murugan, Panchayat Secretary, who expressed gratitude to the facilitators and appreciated the active participation of the attendees.

The training workshop reaffirmed the Directorate’s commitment to strengthening Panchayati Raj Institutions through focused training, handholding support, and knowledge sharing under the RGSA scheme.
