ANM Training School Organises Nutrition Demonstration Program for Pregnant and Lactating Mothers at HWC Haddo

The students of ANM Training School, Sri Vijaya Puram, organised a Nutrition Demonstration Program at the Health and Wellness Centre (HWC) in Haddo on 25th April 2025, focusing on the nutritional needs of pregnant and lactating mothers. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about the critical role of a balanced diet in supporting the health of both mothers and their children during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Mr. Someshwar Rao, Councillor of Haddo, Ward No. 2, graced the occasion as the chief guest, while Dr. Rashida Banu, Medical Officer at HWC Haddo, was the guest of honour.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Rao delivered a brief talk on the importance of a balanced diet and emphasized dietary measures to combat anaemia among pregnant women. Dr. Banu, in her address, highlighted common pregnancy-related nutritional challenges and lauded the efforts of the ANM students for organising a program that is both practical and beneficial to the community.

As part of the event, ANM students set up a food exhibition showcasing easy-to-prepare, nutritious, and affordable recipes made with locally available ingredients. The demonstration was well-received by the attendees, including pregnant mothers and other patients visiting the Health and Wellness Centre.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Ms. Bincy V. Kuruvilla, Principal of ANM Training School, who assured that similar community-oriented initiatives would be organized regularly in the future. The event was coordinated by Ms. Kalawati Dutta, Nursing Tutor at the ANM Training School.
