Lt. Governor of A&N Islands Attends Opening Ceremony of Khelo India Beach Games 2025 in Diu

Admiral D. K. Joshi (Retd.), Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Vice-Chairman of the Islands Development Agency, attended the grand opening ceremony of the inaugural Khelo India Beach Games 2025 at Ghoghla Beach in Diu on Monday.

Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, formally inaugurated the event, which is being held under the Khelo India banner for the first time. The Games have brought together more than 1,350 athletes from over 30 States and Union Territories, showcasing the rising prominence of beach sports in the country.

The opening ceremony was also graced by Mr. Kuniyil Kailashnathan, Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry, and Mr. Praful K. Patel, Administrator of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, and Lakshadweep.

In his address, Lt. Governor Joshi applauded the Daman and Diu Administration for their sustained efforts in enhancing the region’s infrastructure and tourism potential. He also conveyed encouragement to all participating athletes, especially the contingent representing the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Referencing the 109th edition of Mann Ki Baat, Lt. Governor Joshi highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s praise for the participation of athletes from non-coastal states, calling it a testament to the spirit of determination and adaptability.

Set against the backdrop of the Blue Flag-certified Ghoghla Beach, the Khelo India Beach Games 2025 aim to promote coastal sports and further India’s mission of fitness and sporting excellence. (Story Based on PR)
