Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS, Chief Secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration, officially launched the District Disaster Pocket Guide and virtually inaugurated an e-Corner at the Little Andaman Tehsil during a function held at the Secretariat. Senior officials of the A&N Administration were present on the occasion.
The District Disaster Pocket Guide, developed by the District Administration of South Andaman, is a key initiative aimed at enhancing disaster preparedness and response capabilities across the district. Designed as a quick-reference tool, the guide provides critical information to both residents and field functionaries for effective disaster management.
Key features of the guide include:
-QR code-based access to emergency contacts and educational videos,
-Direct dialing functionality for quick assistance,
-Google Maps integration for navigation to relief centres,
-Explanations of emergency siren signals,
-Signage and digital learning tools to improve awareness of safe and vulnerable areas.
Available in both print and digital formats, the guide is expected to support outreach programmes, school safety campaigns, community training, and public awareness initiatives. It can be downloaded from the official South Andaman District website at https://southandaman.nic.in.
In a parallel move to improve access to digital services, the Chief Secretary also inaugurated an e-Corner at the Little Andaman Tehsil Office. The facility aims to provide local residents with free access to a range of online government services, reaffirming the Administration’s commitment to transparency, efficiency, and citizen-friendly governance—especially in remote regions.
While virtually addressing the gathering in Little Andaman, which included local officials and PRI members, Dr. Kumar encouraged them to make optimum use of the e-Corner services. He also stressed the importance of ensuring its smooth and continuous operation.
PRI members from Little Andaman expressed their gratitude to the Administration for bringing essential digital services closer to rural communities, thereby improving the accessibility of government services to common citizens.
