As part of the Atal Vayo Abhyuday Yojana (AVYAY), a wellness programme focusing on basic health and mental well-being was organized at the Old Age Home, Abhyudaya Complex in Ferrargunj. The initiative stems from a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and the Brahma Kumaris, aimed at enhancing the overall well-being of senior citizens across the country.

In accordance with the directives of the Government of India, the Department of Social Welfare, A&N Administration, has developed a calendar of events for the current financial year to implement the objectives outlined in the MoU.

The first event in the series featured a session on basic health and wellness skills and was attended by the residents of the Old Age Home along with young boys housed within the same complex. Sister Sharmista from the Brahma Kumaris led the session, emphasizing the importance of mental health as an ongoing process, involving emotional, psychological, and social well-being. She also conducted a session on yoga and meditation, encouraging participants to adopt holistic practices in their daily lives.

The programme was coordinated by Ms. Monalisa Biswas, Supervisor, and Ms. Sheela Kar, In-charge of the Senior Citizen Home, under the overall supervision of Ms. Reeta Devi, Nodal Officer (Senior Citizen).

The next programme under the series is scheduled to be held on July 3, 2025, at Guptapara, with the support of local PRI members.
