In observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the Science Wing of the Directorate of Education, A&N Administration, organized a vibrant student rally as part of its week-long Anti-Drug Programme. The rally, which commenced from the historic Cellular Jail and concluded at the State Library, Middle Point, saw enthusiastic participation from over 120 students representing various schools in Sri Vijaya Puram.

Waving placards with powerful messages and chanting anti-drug slogans, the students urged the community to unite in the fight against drug abuse and foster a healthier, drug-free society.

The rally was flagged off by Mr. Jitender Kumar Meena, IPS, Superintendent of Police (CID). Mr. Vikram Singh, Director of Education, was also present and commended the spirit and energy of the young participants. The event was further supported by Mr. Ram Pravesh, Deputy Director Education (Science), Mr. Irshad Ahmed, Assistant Director (Sports), and representatives from several NGOs.

As part of the fourth day of the awareness campaign, an interactive session titled ‘Voices of Children’ was organized, bringing together students, officials from the Anti-Narcotics Police Station, and a psychologist from the Directorate of Health Services. The session offered a platform for students to raise questions and share concerns related to drug use and prevention strategies.

Adding a personal dimension to the day’s events, a recovering drug addict delivered an inspirational talk, sharing his journey of transformation and urging students to make mindful and positive life choices.

The week-long programme will continue on June 27 with ‘Movie Day’, featuring rapping, reels, and meme-making competitions. A special session on filmmaking techniques is also on the agenda, aimed at encouraging students to use creative media to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse.
