In a bid to boost fish production across the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, the Zilla Parishad of North & Middle Andaman is implementing the Union Territory Scheme titled “Subsidy for Construction/Purchase of Motorized/Mechanized Fishing Boats” under the Department of Fisheries. The initiative, part of the devolution of powers to the Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), aims to support bonafide fishers, local unemployed youth, entrepreneurs, and fisheries co-operative societies and federations.

As part of the 2025–2026 UT Plan, the Zilla Parishad has invited applications from individuals and entities across all Panchayat areas of North & Middle Andaman who are interested in constructing or purchasing motorized or mechanized fishing boats.

Eligible beneficiaries under this scheme will receive a 50% subsidy on the unit cost of the boats, as fixed by the Department of Fisheries, A&N Administration.

Interested applicants can collect the prescribed application form and detailed scheme guidelines from the Zonal Fisheries Office in N&M Andaman or the Fisheries Sub-Stations located in Rangat, Kadamtala, Billiground, and Diglipur. Completed applications must be submitted to the nearest fisheries Zonal Office or Sub-Station on or before 31st July 2025.

The application form and guidelines are also available for download on the official website of the Andaman & Nicobar Administration at https://www.andaman.gov.in.
