In a commendable display of prompt policing, the Aberdeen Police Station recovered a stolen laptop within hours of the incident being reported at the STS Bus Terminal in Aberdeen Bazaar.
According to the FIR registered at PS Aberdeen, a school teacher from Rangat had arrived at the bus stand early Saturday morning around 6:25 AM to catch a bus back to Rangat. He was carrying a bag containing valuable items including a dark blue HP Victus gaming laptop, its charger, a mouse, around ₹2,500 in cash, and several original documents such as academic certificates, Aadhaar card, driving license, and bank cards. While he briefly stepped away from his seat to inquire at the ticket counter, an unknown person allegedly stole the bag.
After returning to find his belongings missing, the victim immediately reported the theft to the police. The Station House Officer registered an FIR under Section 305(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and launched an investigation.
Confirming the development, the official social media handle of SP South Andaman stated:
“A laptop was stolen today from a person’s bag at STS Bus Terminal. When it came to our notice, the team of PS Aberdeen swiftly swung into action, caught the thief and recovered the laptop within hours. The arrested accused now faces up to 3 years of jail. #SafeAndamans”
This rapid recovery reinforces the confidence in local law enforcement’s responsiveness and dedication to ensuring public safety in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
