The authorities have issued a weather advisory warning of thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds and lightning over isolated areas in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Wind speeds are expected to range between 40–50 kmph.
In addition, squally weather conditions with surface winds reaching 35–45 kmph, gusting up to 55 kmph, are likely to prevail over the Andaman Sea and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands region until 2nd July 2025. The sea condition is expected to remain rough to very rough, posing risks to marine activities.
Fishermen have been strongly advised not to venture into the sea along and off the islands during this period. The authorities have also forecasted swell waves with heights ranging between 1.8 to 2.2 meters and a period of 17.0 to 20.0 seconds till 11:30 PM on 1st July 2025.
There is a possibility of wave surges, and authorities have urged boat operators to exercise utmost caution while at sea and conduct all recreational activities with due diligence.
