In a significant effort to bolster healthcare delivery in remote island communities, a team of doctors and paramedical staff from Community Health Centre (CHC), Nancowry, conducted a comprehensive outreach visit to Primary Health Centre (PHC) Katchal and its peripheral areas on June 30, 2025.

As part of the initiative, a National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) assessment was carried out at Sub-Centres E-Wall and Meenakshi Ram Nagar by Dr. Nirmal Kumar Bajpai and Dr. Solomon Mark Paul. The evaluation focused on key parameters such as service quality, patient care protocols, and record-keeping practices.

To enhance tuberculosis surveillance, a hands-on training session on the Nikshay portal was organized for the staff of PHC Katchal. Mr. Suresh, Senior Treatment Supervisor (STS), facilitated the session and also provided a Falcun Cup and Thermocol box to support TB sample collection and transportation.

The visiting team also conducted a thorough verification of medicine stocks, including emergency supplies, confirming that all available medicines were within expiry dates and adequately stocked.

In parallel, an AYUSH Health Camp was organized at the Community Hall in Japan Tikrey. The camp featured Homoeopathy consultations by Dr. Shabnam Salim and Ayurveda services by Dr. Ankush Paul, with Mr. James Jackson, Pharmacist (Homoeopathy), dispensing the prescribed medicines. A total of 40 patients availed free consultations and medicines during the camp.

This multi-pronged outreach aimed at reinforcing integrated healthcare services and ensuring effective implementation of national health programmes in the geographically isolated Katchal Island.
