In a move to empower young girls through intellectual sports, the Directorate of Education, in collaboration with the Andaman Nicobar Chess Association (ANCA), is set to organize the Smart Girls (Under-19) Chess Tournament – 2025 on 12th and 13th July, 2025. The tournament will be hosted at the auditorium of Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Sri Vijaya Puram.
The event is being held under the national flagship programme ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’, and aims to promote strategic thinking, confidence, and leadership among young female students. By encouraging participation in chess, the initiative seeks to highlight the importance of cognitive development and equal opportunities in competitive sports for girls.
