Spice Festival 2025 to Celebrate Islands’ Rich Agro-Heritage on July 16

The Department of Tourism, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, is set to host the Spice Festival – 2025 on July 16 as part of its ongoing series of fairs, festivals, and events aimed at promoting sustainable tourism across the Islands. The festival seeks to highlight the culinary, medicinal, and cultural value of locally grown spices, while offering visitors an immersive agro-tourism experience.

Targeting both domestic and international tourists, the event will showcase a vibrant blend of culture, cuisine, and spice-based activities. A key feature of the festival is a guided tour of major spice hubs in South Andaman, giving participants a firsthand experience of the Islands’ spice legacy.

As part of the tour, visitors will get the opportunity to explore:

– The renowned farm of Padma Shri Kamachi Chellammal (popularly known as Nariyal Amma) at Rangachang

– The Krishi Vigyan Kendra–Central Island Agricultural Research Institute (KVK-CIARI) at Sippighat

– The organic spice farm at Junglee Mirchi Resort, Caddlegunj

The event itinerary includes:

-Plantation tours and hands-on spice harvesting experiences

-Live demonstrations on spice processing and packaging

-Curated culinary sessions featuring traditional recipes using local spices

To facilitate participation, the Department has arranged a dedicated bus service for the spice tour on July 16, which will depart from the Directorate of IP&T, Port Blair at 8:30 AM.

The Department has extended an invitation to tourists, stakeholders, tourist guide trainees, and students from tourism-related fields to join in celebrating the rich agricultural and cultural heritage of the Islands.
