The Department of Tourism, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, in collaboration with prominent dive associations and centres, is all set to celebrate Women’s Dive Day 2025 on July 19 at North Bay, with the theme #DivingDivas. The event aims to promote women’s participation in scuba diving, raise awareness about marine conservation, and highlight the role of women in adventure tourism.
The celebration will be held in partnership with North Bay Dive Club, Yogi Divers, Andaman Sea Wonders, and Dive Oceano. In addition to North Bay, underwater clean-up drives will also be carried out at various diving sites in Swaraj Dweep and Shaheed Dweep, reinforcing the Administration’s commitment to sustainable tourism.
Key Highlights of Women’s Dive Day 2025:
– Special Diving Sessions for Women: Exclusive diving opportunities will be offered to women participants at discounted rates to encourage their active involvement in scuba diving.
– Underwater Clean-up Drives: Dive teams across North Bay, Swaraj Dweep, and Shaheed Dweep will conduct clean-up missions to preserve the Islands’ marine ecosystems.
– Recognition Ceremony: The Department of Tourism will felicitate pioneering women divers and instructors, along with supporting dive associations, for their contributions to the local diving community.
The main event at North Bay will begin at 10:00 AM and conclude by 1:00 PM. It will feature guidance from trained dive professionals including Ms. Sayali Ranadive (Main Dive Instructor), Ms. Gayatri (Assistant Dive Instructor from Barefoot Scuba), and Ms. Sharmila (Additional Dive Instructor), who will assist and mentor women participants throughout the session.
To ensure a smooth and comfortable experience, dive associations will provide full logistical support, including equipment transportation, setup of diving sites, and dedicated changing rooms for women.
This initiative not only promotes adventure tourism and women’s empowerment in specialized fields like scuba diving but also aligns with the Department’s broader mission to protect the rich marine biodiversity of the Islands.
